Cooking, retirement, budgeting, oh my! Find out how this Frugal Momma of 3 boys does it (or should I say tries to do it) all while trying to live within our means and increase our net worth.
Momma and boys--people are into convenience rather than practicality these days. The price tag of bottled water is easier to swallow than the price tag of a water filter, and some people just bag the water issue altogether and go straight faucet and damn the consequences.
I, for one of the 47%, do not buy bottled water and have opted to filter my own. The $40 I spent on a filter and refill cartridges from Sam's Club have more than paid for about 3 years' worth of clean water--i bet bottled water for the same amount of time costs more than $40!
I certainly can't get adequate bad-water-related health care for that price for drinking out of a faucet, either.
The filter doesn't have to be fancy--just one of those screw-to -the-faucet types will do.

We do have a filter as well. I just can't see spending a lot of money $1.50 per bottle when you can get it for pennies at home.
