Dishwasher broken

Our Sears Kenmore dishwasher is not starting. It won't turn on, we checked all the plugs and fuses and it is a no go. The dishwasher is only 3 years old and is out of warranty. We didn't buy an eztended warranty. My mother has a former Sears repairman contact that I will be contacting when she gets home from vacation. In the meantime, hubby and I are washing dishes by hand.
